AmbassaDroids – KT46 – Scotland

About the builder:
Doug Inman is a Scotland-based droid builder and Committee Member of Droid Builders UK. For the past 16 years, he has worked as an Assistant Director in television and film. Doug began building props in 2004, with his first passion being Doctor Who — and, of course, Daleks were high on the list. Fast forward 16 years to lockdown: taking full advantage of the time at home and as a lifelong Star Wars fan, Doug began building his first R2-D2. Since then, he has also built an R5 unit inspired by the R5 droid featured in Rise of the Resistance at the Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge.

Star Wars has completely changed Doug’s life. Not only has it introduced him to incredible people around the world, but it has also given him the opportunity to spent time over the last year working on Star Wars productions — a true bucket-list achievement and an experience he will always be grateful for.
In 2023, Doug was approached about building an R2-KT for Scotland. He enthusiastically agreed, but with work commitments taking him out of Scotland for the next two years, progress was slow. After returning home at the end of 2025 — and with a new workshop built — Doug set his sights on completing R2-KT for Scotland.

This is a community droid, and one that everyone in Scotland should be incredibly proud of. Special thanks go to Steve Sloan, as well as Brian & Lynn McDavid for their continued support and drive, but this wouldn’t have come to fruition without the support of the whole Star Wars community in Scotland.

2026: Capital Sci-Fi Con, Edinburgh, Scotland

KT46 Stats

Birth Date: 2/21/2026
First appearance will be at Capital Sci Fi Con on the 21st February 2026
Drive System: R2KT Scotland will be running on a Padawan 360 system, with 24v E100 motors
running on a Sabertooth 32, dome motor running on a 24 volt motor controlled by a Syren 10, all
managed by an Arduino ADK
Body: The construction of R2KT Scotland is 80% 3D printed, with other plastics, fibreglass, and
metal involved in the physical structure of the droid to help with longevity. She will be fixed in a 3
legged mode. Although we may change to be made to manually fold into 2 legged mode. Doors and
arms will be sealed shut and the operating system will be straight forward.
Lighting: The logic lights in the head have been supplied by AstroPixels in the UK. An extremely
cost effective design, with customisable colours. KT’s logics over all will be standard ‘R2’ except for
the 2 smaller displays on the front that will be twinkling pink and white
Sound: The sound system will be running off a Sparkfun system connected to a Fosi BT20a amplifier,
allowing decent output of sound with additional Bluetooth capability if required. All triggered with
preprogrammed sound effects.
Missions: R2KT in Scotland has been supported by the 3 biggest Star Wars communities in Scotland
– The Rebel Legion, The Imperial Scottish Garrison & Droidbuilders UK. With support of
communities like this, we were able to bring KT to life and I have absolutely no doubt that through
the highlands of Scotland, KT will bring joy, happiness and hope to whomever she touches.
