Why build a KT Unit ?
That’s a great question but one that I can very easily answer without hesitation.
It all started with a saying I read : I want a world with more happy children and fewer diseases.
In 2020 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It was during that time that I became aware of the
children that often would be in my vicinity that were also cancer patients. I saw how adult the
world was for them. The words, the sounds, even the esthetics of the chemo and radiation rooms.
It was all geared to adults. It bothered me.
Fast forward to 3 years when I finally completed a lengthy treatment regime and I had made a vow… if I survived this, I would never stop helping people fight, especially children. I have been able to continue to see the children and visit them with Make A Wish and Starlight
Foundation as well as Alberta Children’s Hospital. I want them to know they are not alone. KT33
carries a story of a little girl who long after she left the world continues to watch over all of her
friends and this little droid is our way of spreading hope, bravery and love to all.
Never Stop Fighting…….
This droid is dedicated to myself for surviving and trying something so completely out of my
comfort zone by building a droid, my daughter Kaija and my husband Charles who have
supported me endlessly while I have toiled away in our garage long after they have gone to bed.
Trevor for the endless hours of calmly answering my questions and helping me make my dream
a reality even though I had ZERO experience in this field. My mother Gail, and mother-in-law
Judith who passed last year of this disease, and all who have lost their battles. I am here and KT
and I will continue to share adventures so that all of you can come along with us !!

Mission : As the 2nd unit in Canada it would be to visit and support all area’s of pediatric cancer
and childhood illness that I possibly can. Bring smiles and joy to children who are surrounded
with adult words that can be scary. Appear alongside my 501st Badlands Garrison brothers and
sisters to continue to support community engagement and charity.
