“A serious Star Wars fan since the beginning, when my parents were kind enough to take my brother and 5-year-old me to see the first movie opening in the theater, I joined the 501st in 2016 after admiring the club and its mission for many years. I later jumped into the Rebel Legion in 2022. I’m up to six costumes between the two and always looking for more.
I can’t remember the first time I heard about KT, but I couldn’t help but be deeply touched by the story. I didn’t learn about the AmbassaDroids until quite recently but figured I could never justify the tremendous expense of an astromech. Then in November of 2024, I learned a friend of mine was cutting frames and skins with some CNC equipment and a laser cutter. I bought a 3D printer to supplement and later some resin printers and went to work. My goal was to have it finished by mid-May 2025 for a big local event but missed that date.
A month-and-a-half later and she’s ready to roll. I plan to start with the monthly visits that I established last year at Detroit Children’s Hospital followed soon after by the monthly visits I set up at Beaumont Hospital. I am so happy and proud to be able to join the AmbassaDroid Corp and continue the mission that the original KT started. KT-34 will be a very busy girl!” – Kurt

2025 July: Children’s Hospital of Michigan
KT-34’s first mission! Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit where they have a monthly visit to the lobby and welcome kids and their families. On this trip, the lobby was very active with folks coming and going. KT and friends saw lots of kids, made many smiles and took lots of pictures.
